Hoooi, ik was bezig met mn opdrachten voor Statistiek 1, maar ik kwam er niet helemaal uit hier. Kan iemand mij hier mee helpen?

Exercise 15.3

Before a new medicine against a certain disease can be put on the market, the following experiment is done. The medicine is given to 280 randomly selected patients who suffer this disease. After the treatment, 196 persons are cured. Let pi1 be the population proportion of the patients in the whole population that will be cured after the treatment. The former, traditional medicine had a cure rate of 60%.

3a.
Test whether the new medicine is better than the traditional one. Take as level of significance alfa = 0.05. (=m.b.v de 5-step procedure voor Hypothese toetsen) Do not forget to check the requirements(=5-Rule).

As a control group, 140 new patients who suffer the same disease are selected at random, but the patients in that group only get (without knowing) vitamin C. After this ''treatment'' 70 people are cured. Let pi2 be the population proportion that is cured after getting the vitamin.

3b.
Test whether the vitamin is worse than the traditional medicine. Take as level of significance alfa = 0.05.

3c.
Determine a 95% confidence interval for pi1 and also for pi2. How about the conjecture that pi1 > pi2?
